West Central High School has been welcoming many new faces into the classroom this year. Andrea Johnson received the technology position with the responsibilities of teaching Multimedia, Intro to Technology, Graphic Design, Animation and Video and 8th Grade Exploratory. Johnson taught in Tea last year and worked this summer as a Food and Beverage Manager at Elmwood Golf Course. She loves to travel and spend time with her family and friends. Johnson also enjoys photography and computer graphics. “One of my pet peeves is when people don’t put things away,” she stated.

Johnson says she has been having a very smooth year so far. She says that everyone is very helpful and the students are great to work with. Just like any other job, teaching has its ups and downs. “The only thing that’s major difficult so far would be the occasional computer or networking problems,“ Johnson explained. “It’s to be expected in this highly technological environment.” If Johnson were to change anything about WCHS, it would be the locker and backpack situation. “I previously worked in a district that prohibited students from carrying backpacks to the classroom. This was great because it required students to be more responsible, while cutting back on other distractions. Also, it was easier to move around the room.”

Johnson has had many accomplishments; she has completed and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. “I believe my family had given up believing I would ever get my degree, but I did and I went beyond just a bachelor’s and got my master’s.” Johnson is excited to get to know everyone. If you ever have technology problems, don’t be afraid to stop in and meet her!
