The Duke Blue Devils have won their fourth championship in school history, all of these titles were won under head coach Mike Krzyzewski. Duke defeated the Butler Bulldogs with a final score of 71-69. The Bulldogs made a great run in the tournament as the number five seed to face and beat Michigan State in the Final Four. The Blue Devils made a somewhat expected trip to the championship by beating the West Virginia Mountaineers by 21 points.

Kyle Singler led the Blue Devils with 19 points and two blocked shots. Duke might have had a tough time winning the game if it wasn’t for Brian “Zoooo” Zoubek, pulling down ten rebounds for the game and having two blocked shots. This was a great victory for the Blue Devils to get back on top of NCAA basketball and get another championship in the school records.

Coach Krzyzewski and the Devils will be returning three starters next season: Nolan Smith, Kyle Singler and Brian Zoubek. They are looking forward to defending their title against their rival, the North Carolina Tarheels. Fans say that the 2010-2011 season of college basketball will be another interesting one as the Blue Devils and Coach Krzyzewski hope to capture their 5th National Championship.

As the snow melts and the rain starts to fall like cats and dogs, there is one thing people look forward to—spring. With the arrival of spring comes the excitement of spring sports, such as baseball.  Baseball is an American pastime and the longest running sport played in America.  It is what almost every boy grows up playing at one time or another.

At West Central, baseball hasn’t started yet, but that doesn’t stop the excitement that is to come as many students get the opportunity this year to play varsity.  “This season is different from past years because we have a lot of young players that are going to get the chance at playing varsity.  That means that we have a lot of room for improvement and is good experience for the kids in the years to come,” predicts long time head coach Bobby Needles.
This year, students hope they can improve the record they have had in past years. “Our goal this year is to go undefeated.  I personally think this goal can be reached as long as we stay focused through the whole season,” said Sophomore Andrew Ideker, who is hoping for a varsity spot this year.  The season opener for the baseball team is on April 5 at Harrisburg.
