The 2011 basketball season has a lot of interesting stories embedded in it: one of them being the new gymnasium and the boys team itself. West Central is hoping for a successful and joyous season as the Trojans are returning every starter but one. It should be a big advantage for the team this year, as they return senior starters Jeremy Johnson, Dalton Kuehl, Devon Blaine and junior Mitch Brockhaus.
A rivalry will be brought from the 11A championship football game to the basketball court, as the West Central Trojans will travel to Dell Rapids to take on the Quarriers. This should be a good opening test for the Trojans as the Quarriers return three starters.
West Central will also be introducing their new head coach, Levi Twedt. Twedt was assistant and JV coach for the team last year, but has been a head girls basketball coach in Minnesota. Coach Twedt is looking forward to the upcoming season and is excited to see what his team can accomplish throughout the year with having four returning starters.
