It was a cold, windy day in Harrisburg on April 5 for the first game of the baseball season. After seven innings the varsity game was tied at two runs, so the game went into extra innings. With West Central batting first and guys on second and third with two outs, the Harrisburg pitcher was able to get out of the jam by throwing three strikes. Harrisburg was up to bat next. The Harrisburg team knew all they had to do was score one run and the game was over, and they were able to do so. The final score was three to two Harrisburg, with the West Central varsity team taking its first loss.
The junior varsity got warmed up for their game opener. The team batted first and got two runs in the first inning. Harrisburg answered with one run. Throughout the game, West Central used four pitches: Paxton Steen, who pitched the first two innings, was followed by Nolan Bostic, Connor Miles and Jacob Ellens. The Trojan pitchers gave up a total of two runs in the five inning game; the team ended up winning four to two. Everybody was glad they were able to start out the season with a big win.
