Mr. Kent Mueller has worked as a teacher at West Central for 20 years, and has been coaching just as long. He was the head basketball coach, where he had an undefeated season, and is now the head football coach. Having coaching experience for many years, he has brought home 15 state titles.
Off the field, Mueller teaches World Geography, World History and Native American Studies. If he had to choose a favorite class, it would be between World History and Native American Studies. Although he enjoys watching all of the 9th graders mature over the year of World Geography, he calls himself “a history guy.”
In his future years at West Central, he is looking forward to helping every team be the best that they can be and coaching his youngest son Jeevan. He also will have to adapt to all the changes that are happening in education.
In his spare time he likes to read interesting books, hunt and fish, work on his landscaping and garden, coach the Schoolers basketball team in the summer, help take care of his grandson, travel and cook new recipes using meat.
His favorite memories at West Central are watching his daughter Kira compete in basketball and track, coaching his son Josh and being a part of the students’ lives.  Mueller has had some disappointments, but he has said all along, “This is the best job in South Dakota, and as long as I wake up every morning looking forward to going to work, I plan on being a part of West Central.”
